The Institute of Industrial Design has published the Polish Designers Lexicon, first such research initiative in Poland concerning Polish design. The Lexicon identifies Poland’s top designers and their achievements. It is published online and is available for free. The Lexicon is a result of our long-lasting research project, during which we identified and compiled the Polish designers’ profiles, their projects and achievements and we put them in one searchable and easy-to-use online database. There are currently about 450 records in the database of which:
- about 130 records for the years 50ties and 60ties.
- about 240 records for years after 1990
- about 60 records for 70ties
- about 20 records for years before 1945
The Lexicon is constantly updated. Designers can provide details of their projects and their career and we will input this information to the database.
The Polish Designers Lexicon is a part of our mission aiming at promoting the Polish design and Polish designers. The Lexicon is our response to the lack of similar research in Poland so far. It is universal and user-friendly online source of information for those who are interested in Polish design, in particular producers, product managers and designers.

The project was created as part of the kay project Design your Profit. The inprovement of the competitiveness of enterprises through the application of design (produt and process innovation), conducted by Instytut Wzornictwa Przemysłowego (Institute of Industrial Design)
