GDD in the strategy of the Baltic Sea region
On June 10, 2009 the European Commission passed a statement on the Strategy of the European Union for the Baltic Sea region along with an accompanying Action Plan project, in which industrial design was incorporated as one of the topics for the region.
Gdynia Design Days was registered as a key event for the creation of the identity of the Baltic Sea region through industrial design. Industrial design as an element distinguishing this part of Europe was incorporated into the requirements of the Polish government in the document of 2008: “Cohesion and competitiveness of the Baltic Sea region – from vision to action” in the chapter “the Baltic Sea Region as a model region in the field of application and popularization of industrial design”. For this reason, GDD 2009 is held under the auspices of the Office of the Committee for European Integration.
