The exhibition presents 38 products of Polish designers in seven thematic sections which identify the strengths of Polish design and its contexts. The sections include: Native character, Industry potential, Aesthetics, Engineering, Universal design, Ergonomics and Digital technologies

The exhibition answers the following questions:

  1. What is design today?
  2. What added value are we looking for in products today?
  3. What is Polish design like?
  4. Is Polish design clear, acceptable for consumers outside our country, and at the same time with a trait of native character, which is capable of utilising our individual customs and promote them globally?

It is addressed to participants of the process of creation of a new product, i.e. designers and manufacturers, and to recipients of their combined efforts – customers.

We say to designers: these are the strengths of our – Polish – design. You may use them, of course without restrictions to your creativity. Whether you do it, or whether you find your own, individual path – is your choice. We show examples of good designs, which in most cases are created in cooperation with an enterprise. The implementation, production and sale constitute the highest success for the design and the designer.

We show entrepreneurs what values the design may bring to their business. We refer to the famous slogan: Dare to be different. Today most of your competitors have the same or similar technological capabilities, and their products – similar functional features. What can make you stand out are the emotional features of the product offered. This added value is ensured by good design. And it is good design that should be seen as the opportunity for improving competitiveness, and what follows – increasing profits.

We show customers what added value is brought by wisely designed and well manufactured products. And that in Poland more and more frequently products are created which are equal to products in world markets.

Convinced of the value of Polish design and referring to the best traditions of the Institute of Industrial Design, the curators of the exhibition have chosen the slogan of Prof. Wanda Telakowska, the creator of the IID idea, as the exhibition’s manifesto: Beauty everyday for everyone.

A film entitled “Added Value. Global Design from Poland” is shown at the exhibition, it constitutes its integral part.
It presents the creation of a new product as a complex, interdisciplinary process: from the designers’ education, through design concept, analysis of the customer’s needs and ergonomic research, through production, to the functioning in the market and response to consumer needs. Individual scenes were filmed at: Industrial Form Design Faculty of the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków, in the 1:1 Design Studio in Gdańsk, Ergonomic Research Unit of the Institute of Industrial Design, PROFIm Office Furniture Factory, Oskar Zięta’s workshop near Zielona Góra, a Warsaw shopping centre and on the Gdynia promenade where the City Mayor, Wojciech Szczurek, talked about the importance of design for the public space.
This is the first education film of this type in Poland, promoting the process of product creation (duration: 26 minutes)
